Installing Your Internet Client

In order to run Interactive Mathematics or Interactive English lessons or to use the Instructional Support System, you must first install the Mediated Learning Internet Client on your computer. If you intend to use both Interactive Mathematics and Interactive English, you need to install the Internet Client for each program. Instructions for each appear below.


Installing the Interactive Mathematics Internet Client

Follow these steps to install the Interactive Mathematics Internet Client on your computer.

1. Insert the Mediated Learning Internet Client Installer CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. It will automatically start and display a Setup dialog box.

2. The Select Installation Product Line dialog box will appear. Select Interactive Mathematics, then click Next.

3. In the Interactive Mathematics Workstation Setup dialog box, click Next.

4. In the Set Destination Directory window, click Next.

5. Installation takes about five minutes, with progress displayed on a status bar.

6. When the Internet Client installation is complete, the Interactive Mathematics Workstation Installation dialog box appears. Select Yes, I want to restart my computer now and click Finish to restart your computer. It is important to restart your computer.


Installing the Interactive English Internet Client

Follow these steps to install the Interactive English Internet Client on your computer.

1. Insert the Mediated Learning Internet Client CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. It will automatically start and display a Setup dialog box.

2. The Select Installation Product Line dialog box will appear. Select Interactive English, then click Next.

3. In the Interactive English Workstation Setup dialog, click Next.

4. Installation takes about five minutes, with progress displayed on a status bar.

5. During the client installation of Interactive English, the Microsoft ActiveMovie dialog box will appear. (This is a separate install.)

If your computer is running Windows 98, or Windows 95 and you have already installed Internet Explorer 4.0: you do not need to install ActiveMovie, so go to step 9.

If your Internet browser is not Internet Explorer 4.0: go to step 6.

6. In the Microsoft Active Movie dialog box, click Yes to begin the installation.

7. In the Microsoft ActiveMovie - License Agreement dialog box, read the license agreement and click Yes if you agree to its terms. (Note that the Mediated Learning Installer is licensed to install ActiveMovie on your computer.)

8. When the Microsoft ActiveMovie installation is complete, the ActiveMovie Setup dialog box appears. Click OK.

9. When the Internet Client installation is complete, the Interactive English Workstation Installation dialog box appears. Select Yes, I want to restart my computer now and click Finish to restart your computer. It is important to restart your computer.
